Feature and Follow #24:Guilty Pleasures

Hello all!
Welcome to Feature and Follow,
a meme hosted by

Question of the Week:
What are your non-book guilty pleasures?
Like TV shows, food, websites, hobbies, etc.

Answer:

TV Shows:
I like some Reality Shows, like The Voice and So You Think You Can Dance!
Other than that I keep the channel tuned to Food Network. LoL

Food:
I love watching Food Network, even though I pretty much never cook. LoL
I can't live without Dr. Pepper and chocolate.

Websites:
Websites I love are, of course,
YouTube, Goodreads, and Netgalley!

Hobbies:
My biggest guilty pleasure is Eve Online.
I am addicted to playing this game and
I love the guys in my corporation!
Never met them in real life, but consider
some of them bestest buds!
The game is hard, which makes it satisfying
when you get the hang of it.

Feature and Follow #23: I'm Featured!

Hello all!
I am so super excited to be a
Featured Blogger!
This meme is hosted by
Thank you so much for featuring me!

Here are some questions I answered for the hosts!

When did you start blogging?

A friend of mine introduced me to Goodreads
and that is how my book blogging madness began.
My first post was January 25, 2012, over 2 years ago!
I remember being so nervous about my first post
and rewriting my review half a dozen times.

What is your favorite part of book blogging?

Well, of course, there are the books I get to read!
More than that though, are all of the great people
I have met through blogging. It's really amazing
to be a part of a community with such a passion for reading!

What type of books do you mainly blog about?

Most of the books I end up reviewing
are YA Dystopian, since that's my fave genre.
However, I like reading fantasy and scifi and sometimes contemporary.

What is your favorite book(s)?

Oh wow! This is such a hard question...
I love anything by Neil Gaiman, particularly Stardust.
Of course, The Mortal Instruments series or
anything by Cassandra Clare!
Also, books by Lauren Oliver, Suzanne Collins...and so many more!

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

I have met amazing bloggers and authors and been able to do things
I never thought I could do.
I once won a Kindle Fire.
I participated in a Blast that entered everyone into a drawing.
OMG! I flipped when I got the e-mail.
Honestly though, the best thing is that I have proven to myself I can stick with something!

Question this Week:
How important is good writing to you? In an ideal world, a book would be beautifully written AND have great character development, plot, etc. But in the real world, which do you prefer: (1) Great characters and plot with lousy writing or (2) Middling character development and plot but gorgeous writing

Answer:
Good writing is of the utmost importance to me. I have read some books that had awesome characters but the writing was horrendous. It absolutely ruined the book for me. I think Character Development and Plot is in integral part of "good" writing, so it's hard to answer this question! I guess if I HAD to pick one, it would be gorgeous writing.

Feature and Follow #22: Sharing the Book Love

Hello all!
Welcome to Feature and Follow,
a weekly meme hosted by

Q: Have you ever convinced someone to read a book, a series,
or a whole genre? What book(s) and who was it? Did they like it?

A: I gave my friend Jen, who was actually one of my University professors,
a copy of Stardust by Neil Gaiman. She adored it and has read several more
of his books to date! I also suggested The Hunger Games to my
favorite local Sonic car hop and she thanked me for weeks after reading it.
Of course, I've suggested books that people didn't like...
Especially when I went through my Chuck Palahniuk "phase".
He wrote Fight Club.
I broke the first rule.
I talked about Fight Club.
LOL
Let's just say he is an acquired taste.

What about you?
Best/worst experiences with book recommendations?

Feature and Follow #21: Dinner with an Author

Hello all!
Welcome to Feature and Follow,
a weekly meme hosted by

The question this week:

Q: What living author or authors
would you like to have dinner with?

A: This one is super easy! I would choose:

Neil Gaiman

Author of Coraline, Stardust, American Gods and more.

Gaiman seems like he would be an insanely interesting person
and I have a thing for British accents. LoL
Also, he is married to Amanda Palmer.
She is my favorite musician/singer ever.
And yes, I'm biased.
And yes, I'm hoping she would show too!
LoL

Feature and Follow #19: Crying

Hello all!
Welcome to Feature and Follow!
A meme hosted by

Q: What was the last book that made you cry?

by Amie Kaufman, Meagan Spooner
This story was so touching and beautiful. Loved it!

These Broken Stars It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

Question:
If you could read a book for the "first time" again,
which one would it be? Why?

Answer:
I know a lot of people will say this, but my honest choice is...
This book made me cry uncontrollably!
I had to set it down for a day because I thought
Harry had died and couldn't bring myself to finish it.
LOL.

Feature and Follow #15: Reading Destination

Feature and Follow is hosted by

The featured bloggers this week are:
and
Congrats y'all!

Question of the Week:
Where is the best destination reading spot for you?
(Where do you like to read other than home)

Answer:
Well, no matter where I go I have either
a book, my Kindle or both.
This might sound weird but the best place to zone
out and read is in a waiting room.
I can't read in a bookstore because the other
books get jealous and start yelling obscenities at me!
Oh, I like reading during road trips too.
So, pretty much anywhere is cool with me
as long as I get to read!
