Think Out Loud #61: Choosing Myself

Hello all!
Welcome to Think Out Loud!
TOL is a weekly meme I post on Thursdays
and I would love for everyone to share with us!
You can post about WHATEVER YOU WANT!
A rant, rave, question for your audience, anything!
Go for it!

I agree with this 100%.
I was a serial monogamist until age 29.
(Think of Julia Roberts in Runaway Bride)
I was so bad about jumping directly into
another relationship after a failed one.
When I turned 29, it hit me like a ton of bricks.
I was so worried about making everyone else happy
that I was completely miserable.
So, I decided to be single.

"It is better to be unhappy alone than to be unhappy with someone else."
Marilyn Monroe

This chick knew what she was talking about.
At first, being on my own was extremely difficult.
Like Oscar said above, I was making the mistake of
defining myself by who I was with rather than who I was.
So, without anyone, I was lost.

Or, so I thought...

Ah yes. Good ol' Einstein.
Nailed it.
Being a 33 year old Single Female with NO kids
is pretty far outside of the crowd.
But I love it here!
Crowds always freak me out anyways. LOL

I still believe in love.
I believe one day I will find someone.
And this time,
I will be my own person.
I will be ready.

  1. I strongly believe the first quote by Oscar Wilde--"You need to know how to be alone and not be defined by another person."

  4. It's really hard to be alone. I must admit I've never been alone. I went right from my parents to my husband. I dated guy after guy before I started dating my husband. I knew it probably wasn't healthy for me, but I was so afraid of being alone, I did it anyway.

You seem like a strong woman, and I admire you for finding peace for yourself. You deserve to be happy! :D
