Poem: The Instructions by Neil Gaiman

"The Instructions"
is a poem written and read by Neil Gaiman.
It is his advice to children on what to do if they find themselves in a fairy tale.
This isn't all of it but it is beautiful.
Neil Gaiman is the author of "American Gods".
If you have never heard this man read,
you are just missing out.
Please watch and enjoy.
It is short.
But you will like it.

Review: Gods Behaving Badly

by Marie Phillips
February 3, 2012 to February 13, 2012
Published December 10, 2007 by Little, Brown and Company
292 pages

 Synopsis from GoodReads.com

Being a Greek god is not all it once was. Yes, the twelve gods of Olympus are alive and well in the twenty-first century, but they are crammed together in a London townhouse--and none too happy about it. And they've had to get day jobs: Artemis as a dog-walker, Apollo as a TV psychic, Aphrodite as a phone sex operator, Dionysus as a DJ.

Even more disturbingly, their powers are waning, and even turning mortals into trees--a favorite pastime of Apollo's--is sapping their vital reserves of strength.

Soon, what begins as a minor squabble between Aphrodite and Apollo escalates into an epic battle of wills. Two perplexed humans, Alice and Neil, who are caught in the crossfire, must fear not only for their own lives, but for the survival of humankind. Nothing less than a true act of heroism is needed-but can these two decidedly ordinary people replicate the feats of the mythical heroes and save the world?

Review

This book is not for those easily bothered by sex, that’s for sure. About two-thirds of this book revolves around some form of sex. While it is a little funny for a little while, it gets old. Then you are left with the last third. It is what saves this book.  The story of Neil and Alice was basically the only good thing about this book. The Gods were just annoying. And the one line in this book that made me like it? “I the fuck am Neil.” This line is on page 284. The book is 292 pages long. So, that tells you how long you have to wait to get to the good part. Just warning you.

Anyways, that one line is the only reason this book is getting two stars. It is a quick, fun, somewhat perverse read. If that is your thing, well, I probably still might not recommend this book to be honest. There are much better ways to spend your reading time.

So. Two out of five stars = LACKING.

*Note* This is going to be a new movie in 2012! It has an amazing cast including Christopher Walken as Zeus! I love me some Christopher Walken. I might just have to watch this! I know it has to be better than the book right? LOL.
